Youth Media and Leadership

We’re looking for creative and inquisitive youth who are out-of-the-box thinkers to be Youth Leaders or work on media project teams here at the Media Center?  All opportunities count as community service or volunteer hours.

The Media Center has free workshops and events for youth throughout the year.  RIGHT NOW, our most exciting youth opportunities require e-signing up or submitting online applications by Thursday, September 20th at 11:59pmClick here to learn more.  These time sensitive opportunities are:

  1. an environment-themed Greenlight Film Festival Club: youth are supported in creating entries for the film festival and learn how to create a successful film festival
  2. multiple Youth Leadership Opportunities: 9 positions of power for youth leaders, positions include: Youth Volunteer Coordinator and Youth Social Media Coordinator
  3. an intensive media literacy and community action team, the Youth Advisory Council: select high schoolers from Atherton, East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, and Menlo Park  together create media-based community action projects using video production, critical thinking, and collaboration
  4. Studio and Field Production Internships: semester-long hands-on learning with mentors and professionals
  5. Semester Volunteers: youth commit to volunteer 4-6 hours/week at the Media Center for the full semester and attend adult classes for free
