Plan a Peace Conference @ Menlo!

Interested in being a student leader planning a peace conference @ Menlo?  Menlo student Rhea Pokorny is looking for Casti students to help her plan for the March 25 event.

This year, Menlo School will host The Field Conference, a conference focusing on global peace and conflict resolution.  It
will take place from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm on March 25th, 2011 at the Menlo School in Atherton. It hopes to bring together students with an interest in global issues and a willingness to commit to actively participate for the day. The goals of the conference are to develop a deeper understanding of some world conflicts, including those in the Middle East and South Asia; to develop skills and understandings about stereotypes, facilitation, and dispute resolution; to inspire action within our community and global awareness; and to meet people with similar interests. The conferences also hopes to develop a community of high school students who share an interest in peace. The name “The Field Conference” is inspired by Rumi, a 13th century poet, who writes “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right-doing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

There will be two 1.5 hour break-out workshops with a speaker in between.

Rhea has created a short form for students who are interested to fill out. Here is the link: tinyurl.com/thefieldconference . If you have further questions or are interested in joining, please contact Rhea at rhea.pokorny@menloschool.org.
