Last Day in LaShiHai

We got an early start at 6:30 am for a dark morning hike to the local Tibetan Buddhist Temple. The hike was a pilgrimage of sorts to reflect on our journey thus far – we hiked single file, in silence with only our headlamps for light. We arrived on the steps of the temple as the sun was rising and had time to continue to reflect, journal, and light incense. We had time to explore the temple and observed the morning chant rituals too. On our way back to the retreat center, we lit incense again as we left the temple and had a relaxing, sunny walk. Once we returned, we had time to eat lunch and relax before our afternoon activities – preparing our skits and songs for the night celebrations with our homestay families. We returned to our homestays for a quick dinner before coming back for a women’s circle to ask the local women about their lives and the role of women in Naxhi society. Our celebrations began with a performance by the local village orchestra, and was a lively night of dancing, singing, and eating. A perfect way to end our time in LaShiHai!
