China Day 6

After a lovely breakfast with our homestay families we visited an educational center to help pick up horse droppings to be fermented in a system made to separate waste. The droppings make gas, to be used for cooking and heating, and fertilizer. We learned about the problems with trash and pollution facing China and specifically the lake, where the surrounding area used to get their drinking water but is no longer clean enough because of tourism the area attracts. After lunch we went to a Buddhist temple where we were given time to wander and explore the beautiful buildings and grounds. We ended the day with a dinner with our homestay families.
