Global Investigator: Family Learning Suggestions

As the current sophomores and their families transition into junior year and prepare for the Global Investigator Trips, the ACE Center is pleased to suggest ways in which families can spend time together learning about the partnership destinations. We will be populating this list with events, films, and web resources that can help to engage you in family learning opportunities. You are also encouraged to make a suggestion for a local event or learning resource you believe adds value to how families can continue learning together about the global investigator countries. Please come back often, as we will be adding more information (and we expect you will too) over the next few months and the coming year.

Global Week 2013 – Social Change: Standing Up and Speaking Out

The ACE Center proudly announces that the theme for Global Week 2013 is “Social Change: Standing up and Speaking Out.” It will be explored via four threads including: grassroots movements that matter, voting and the political process, social media and the protester, partnership in action. Stay tuned in the early fall when we announce speakers, workshops, and more!

About the Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and energetic individual who can assist with daily
office operations and programs. Projects will include data entry and organization,
writing caregiver profiles, and assisting with the coordination of caregiver training
events. This is a great opportunity to get an inside look at the operations of a privately
owned and operated company in a fast-growing industry.

Qualifications
• Must be responsible, reliable and have a passion for helping others
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing
• A self-starting, energetic and industrious attitude
• Advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Duties
• Be part of a dynamic customer service and account management team – we
have a lot of fun together!
• Write dynamic and informative caregiver profiles, and upload profiles
into company database. These profiles will be used to represent caregiver
candidates to new clients, so they need to good!
• Be willing to undertake almost any task, small or large, as requested by your
supervisors

Compensation
$10/hour. Office hours are M-F 9 am – 6 pm. We are looking for someone to work 10-
25 hours a week, flexible schedule.

Interested in writing, design, gardens, or landscaping? Here’s an opportunity to pursue with a Casti alum at Linden Green Design! Alumna Lindsay Rothwell is a landscape designer and author and would love to offer a summer internship to a Castilleja student interested in writing, design or another creative field. The internship would be tailored to the student’s specific interests and goals, but tasks can/will cover the following: research for a non-fiction book proposal; learning about different plant materials; learning to meld a client’s needs with good design; hand drafting; creating plant palettes; design research.
